Getting to Know Her

It has been a wild ride for the past 18 hours. She is a bright, energetic girl full of curiosity. Yet she is much like an infant with a will of steel and the anger of a charging bull. The amount of trauma and abuse in her life is very evident through her behavior and speech. She has the speech patterns of a street urchin, language that we are not used to and are trying not to react to so that it does not empower it. There have been some great moments of sweetness throughout the day but it has not been an easy day. She is napping at the moment and I am on a 3 minute check in timer in order to steal this time to blog. The intensity of today has left me wrung out, so please continue to pray for us all. Here are some highlights from today.

If you could also keep in prayer these specifics:
  • that Sweetpea would be more gracious and less hostile to her new sisters who are trying valiantly to reach out in love to her
  • that Sweetpea would graduate to this time clock quickly as she is fighting jet lag and also the time change for her body clock which is 13 hours ahead of ours, making our night her day.
  • that the cold that had sprung upon me would make a hasty retreat
  • that we would find grace and peace in the midst of a very trying time, that we would know God's amazing love for each of us
