A poem I penned two years ago in celebration of 3 families who had been united with children long awaited and long prayed for. When it was recently sent back to me I was touched and wanted to share it with you too.
rest, rest, rest
o' you mama's
rest your hearts
put your heads
down and sleep deeply
all your little ones have been drawn
from afar
safely, harbored under your wings
now nestled in your arms
breathe deeply
of their fragrant heads
and cast your eternal thanks
to God for drawing
them home
now rest, to bed, and no more internet
no more emails, rumors….deep longings
rest, o mama's, rest
too soon they wake
and hungry tummies do not acknowledge
your hearts' long arduous journey
i rejoice with you and pray you rest!
