The day flew by and with it came a lot of things to do around the house in preparation for Christmas and the week to come. The flurry and inattention to Sweetpea made her feel very insecure so we saw a lot of acting out. I have to say this was the first day since being in our family where I was not totally focused on keeping her level and let other priorities creep up into first place, she saw it too. She retaliated towards me a bit. I just don't know how to handle the pressures of life at the same time as I maintain this capsule of safety and calm for Sweetpea, either I do one or the other.
I am reading a really great book that promises a lot of good info and ran across a lot of profound material. It helped me a bit today when I met with certain conflicts. The book is: Parenting the Hurt Child : Helping Adoptive Families Heal and Grow by Gregory Keck and Regina Kupecky. I would recommend it.
Sadly today there was not one photo taken, it was as if I have lost the camera. I haven't- I was just too busy to stop and take in the wonder who is Sweetpea. She did rename our family the Orangutan family, which I think is funny. She says orangutan so funny that if you don't know what she is trying to say you probably would not catch on and she said it a lot today. She included herself as the baby orangutan in this family so maybe that's progress. I promise pictures tomorrow.
