It is truly a miracle to see the lonely be placed in a family. Today we got to witness through the web 3 of our dear friends become a family by God's Providence and the miracle of adoption. We met this little 11 year old girl last summer when she was here in the US having medical intervention not available in China. She was an orphan, and had waited all her life to be adopted. She had seen countless number of children around her leave the orphanage to go into forever families through adoption but no one ever chose her. She longed with all her heart just to have a Dad.
Last summer through the concerted efforts of some friends who began to champion her cause many people came to know about her. One special couple took it further and put their faith and hope on the line and started the paperwork to adopt her. They were an unlikely couple, being recent empty-nesters, and they would need TWO special variances from China to be approved.
On the other hand this special little girl was running out of time. When a child turns 13 in China adoption is closed. Only children 12 and younger are adoptable under the current system. Many people prayed and interceded for the trio involved. Then we heard that China approved the parents, and then they had to wait the entire summer for the Olympics to be done in order to travel to adopt her.
Today they are a family and we are rejoicing with tears and thanksgiving for the wonderful thing that God has done. We cannot wait for them to come home to greet them and know that we will be almost neighbors!
