I CAN cook!

Today I proved to Sweetpea that Mama can indeed cook food on the stove in the house, not just use the microwave to reheat other people's food. She was underwhelmed but still managed to eat a lot. It was quite funny as we gathered at the full dining table and she remarked, "Mama like a King"! What perspective she was using I don't know but it made us all laugh. Maybe it was a comment on my "reigning" culinary skills???

After dinner clean-up the other kids headed for bed but I needed to delay her downstairs for a few minutes so that they could clear the bathroom before we can go up to prepare for her to go to bed. Otherwise there are just too many bodies vying for the sink at one time and Sweetpea is a very good aim at the back of anyone elses head! Anywho, I told her I would read 2 books to her of her choosing. She went to the bookcase and chose a Veggie Tale book and "I love you more than Rainbows" by Susan Crites. I opened the Rainbow book and she balked. What was the matter? She let me know by wild gesturing that she wanted to get in the love nest with me and snuggle. WHAT!!!!????? THIS CHILD IS ASKING TO SNUGGLE WITH ME!!!!!! I couldn't believe it. I didn't need to be asked twice. We hit the love nest and snuggled in and read the books as slowly as possible. Then she sang this song from "Charlie Brown" about Sweet Baboo and I said if she sang that again I would have to kiss her five times. She sang it again on purpose and I had to make good on my promise. She squealed with delight and as soon as I was done she sang it again!

Okay, I feel really well rewarded today. Those 15 minutes were just priceless. I know tomorrow they will mean nothing to her but I can still store them as treasure in my heart. As I watched her fall asleep a song came over the radio and a line of the song caught my attention "you look more like love everyday", I think she does look more like love everyday. I think we may be growing on her against her will. She might get mad about it but I think we're gonna love her no matter what.
